PURPOSE:To obtain activated ash having deodorizing effect, decolorizing effect, sedimentation accelerating effect, etc., by feeding a multi-step stoker with paper sludge and wooden chips in a two-layer state, burning them and then collecting unburned ash. CONSTITUTION:A multi-step stoker is charged with paper sludge (A) and wooden chips (B) by weight ratio of A:B=(70-80):(30-20), in a two-layer state of lower layer (A) and upper layer (B) (thickness of layers is preferably determined so that the layer (A) has thickness 1.05-1.15 time as much as that of the layer (B)). These materials are then burned at 750-800 deg.C. The combustion gas containing unburned ash (usually 10-30g/m<3>) produced by the combustion is rapidly cooled, preferably in one second to 200 deg.C or below. The unburned ash is then collected is activated ash which can be effectively used as an activated sludge for waste water treatment or adsorption assistant or sedimentation accelerator for an aeration tank. |
