摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the composite material which obviates the generation of thermal cracks in a ceramics coating layer and has excellent oxidation resistance, strength and thermal impact resistance by forming the internal matrix of the carbide, nitride or carbonitride of specific elements and the matrix in the surface part of C. CONSTITUTION:This composite material has the base material formed by incorporating carbon fibers as a reinforcing material into the matrix consisting of C in the surface part and the carbide, nitride or carbonitride of group 4A, 5A, 6A elements, Si or B in the internal part and the coating layer consisting of SiC or Si3N4 formed on the surface of the base material. This composite material has the bending strength equiv. to the bending strength of a C/C composite and the much higher coefft. of thermal expansion which can be approximated to the coefft. of thermal expansion of the SiC and Si3N4. The above- mentioned composite material formed by using this carbon fiber reinforced ceramics composite material as the base material and coating the surface thereof with the SiC and Si3N4 exhibits the excellent strength and thermal impact resistance and can relieve the thermal stresses under heat cycles. The coating layer is hardly cracked and is highly resistant to oxidation.
