PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, containing a specific amount or more of an alkali metal silicate (polymer), having a high compressive strength without impairing high strength and elastic modulus and useful as composites and reinforcing materials for internal trim materials, etc., of aircraft and buildings. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber, composed of p-oriented type aramid having <=3.5 intrinsic viscosity (etainh) and containing an alkali metal silicate and/or polymer thereof in an amount of at least 0.5wt.% based on the total weight of the fiber. |
