<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title shaft with a good torsion-characteristic and with a high shock-resistance, by a method wherein the reinforcing fiber for a tubular shaft consists of C-SiC fiber and/or C-SiC-MC fiber (M is selected from among elements of Ti, Zr and Hf). CONSTITUTION:For a tubular shaft made of fiber reinforced resin, its reinforcing fiber consists of C-SiC fiber and/or C-SiC-MC fiber (M is at least one element selected from among a group of elements of Ti, Zr and Hf). The C-SiC fiber is an inorganic fiber obtained from a polycyclic aromatic polymer containing silicon, and the C-SiC-MC fiber is another inorganic fiber obtained from the polycyclic aromatic polymer containing metal, the polymer of which contains at least one element selected from among a group of elements of titanium, zirconium and hafnium, and silicon. Although these C-SiC fiber and C-SiC-MC fiber have high strength and high elasticmodulus, they have excellent plastic compatibility owing to SiC and MC which are finely scattered in the fiber. In this way, a good torsion-characteristic and high impact-resistance is given to the title shaft.</p> |
