Plasma display panel including a face plate (11), a rear plate (13), a plurality of anodes (15), of cathodes (17), of auxiliary anodes (21), of first stop bars (19) of second stop bars (23) and of discharge spacers (29), in which each auxiliary anode is tightly interposed between each first stop bar and each second stop bar. The PDP is easy to manufacture due to the absence of a dielectric layer. The circuit for controlling the PDP is simplified by the presence of an auxiliary discharge of the direct current type. The width of the cathode is not limited by the auxiliary anode and made a maximum within the discharge space, so that an enhanced brightness is obtained due to the enhanced discharge.
