PURPOSE:To perform a real-time area painting-out process at a high speed with use of the small number of picture memories by latching successively a noted picture element and its peripheral picture elements and setting the density of the noted picture element at the density level of a contour line of a closed graphic when the coincidence is obtained between the pattern of the peripheral picture elements and a prescribed pattern. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral picture element latch 4 latches successively a noted picture element and its 8 peripheral picture elements based on the picture input data received from a picture input pert 1. A pattern deciding part 5 refers to five of the noted picture element and 8 peripheral picture elements latched by the part 4. When the picture elements R1 - R3, Q1 and Q3 are coincident with a prescribed pattern, the density of the noted picture element is set at the density level of the contour line of a closed graphic. The the picture data obtained from an area painting-out operation is stored in a memory 6 and then outputted to a picture output part 3. As a result, a real-time area painting- out process is carried out at a high speed. |
