The invention relates to a gritting device used especially for spreading grit (gravel) on roads, and mounted at the rear of a tilting bucket of a carrying vehicle. It comprises a chute (22) of rectangular-cross section, extending over the entire width of the bucket (2) of the vehicle, the entry of the said chute (22) being connected with the inside of the said bucket (2) via a slot (15) provided on the lower edge and at the rear of the bucket (2), a conveyor (33) consisting of two drums (34, 35) connected by an endless belt (36), whose width is at least equal to that of the chute (22), and which receives on its upper substantially horizontal length the grit from the exit of the chute (22) and conveys it in a layer of predetermined thickness to the rear drum (35), from where it falls to the ground to form a layer of grit with constant thickness on the road, and a vertical blade (38) with substantially vertical displacement, placed downstream of the chute (22), above the upper length of the belt (36), the height of the lower edge (40) of the blade (38) on the belt (36) of the conveyor (33) determining the thickness of the layer of grit arriving at the rear drum (35). <IMAGE>
