Appts. for uptake and introduction of tissue which is independant of blood supply and which can prepare hormones, in the human body, comprises a closed vessel contg. the tissue and which consists partly of a membrane which is permeable to body fluids but impermeable to antibodies and defence cells. The membrane consists of a separating layer (1) with high porosity and a support membrane (2). The external distance between the membrane and the tissue (5) is max. 1 mm. The inner surface of the membrane is covered with a pH-buffer and/or a culture for promoting growth of the tissue and/or attachment factors and/or a surface with a large surface area (4). The external surface of the membrane is covered with a silicon film, attachment inhibitors, glucocortocoids and/or substances inhibiting proliferation of fibroblasten (e.g. contactioin and/or the external surface is covered with growth and differentation factors promoting angiogenesis, a layer of endothelial cells from the recepient and/or haemocompatible substances. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are esp. useful in treatment of diabetics as insulin can be prepd. in situ by introduced tissue. The problems of organ rejection are not encountered as the vessel is not permeable to defence cells.
