Steam conversion valve with integral cooling - mixes part of steam with water at nozzle injecting into mixing chamber

The steam conversion valve has a housing (1) with an inlet (2), and an outlet (4) with evaporator (3) for the cooled and pressure reduced steam. A piston (5), sliding axially in the housing, has a passage (7) in its rod, by which cooling water is delivered into a mixing chamber (8) and mixed with the steam. A pressure reduction system (9-11) in one or more stages is included. The incoming steam flows via several separate passages (12, 13) to the outlet, with steam tapped off between the first and second reduction stages along a first passage (13) to a nozzle (14), to which, cooling water is also supplied via another passage (20). The nozzle sprays the mixt. into the arch (15) of a domed mixing chamber (8), where it encounters the steam from a third passage (12) before reaching the outlet. ADVANTAGE - Improved temp. pattern, without damage due to sudden expansion.
