The separate electro-motors for the individual spindles of a spinning or twisting machine have their stators (26) and rotors (25) lying open in the longitudinal channel (11) of the spindle rail. The longitudinal channel is divided into at least two sections (11,15). One channel part (11) has the open stators (26) and rotors (25), and the other channel section (15) carries the electrical supply lines (37), the control lines and control units (39) or the electro-motors. A shrouding in the second channel section (15) divides it into a high current and low current sub-section. The longitudinal channel is a generally Y-shaped extruded profile, to hold the electro-motors (25,26) in the upper section, and the electrical supply lines (37), control lines and control units (39) in the lower section. Both sections are covered by removable lids (31,33). ADVANTAGE - As there are no motor housings, the mfg. is simplified and requires less material, and the access is improved for maintenance.
