Contactless vehicle tyre rotary motion detection - measuring times between detection of magnetic markings in magnetisable belt by detector(s)

A method of detecting the rotary motion of a vehicle tyre involves using magnetic markers (11) in a magnetisable belt (4) in the tyre. The relative motion of the tyres w.r.t. one or more sensors (12,13) is detected. The time for reappearance of the markings after one revolution is measured. Alternatively, with two sensors, the time is measured between the detection of a marking by them. A belt magnetisation arrangement is used. USE - For use on motor vehicle test stands for contactless detection of rotary motion of vehicle wheel.
