Thermoelectric generator with electrochemical pump - esp. of beta-alumina, for pumping heat transport medium

In a thermoelectric generator with two chambers (2,3) held at different temps. and sepd. by an alakli metal ion-conductive solid electrolyte (4) and an electrode (5) a heat transport medium (8) is pumped from the lower temp. chamber (3) to the higher temp. chamber (2) by an electrochemical pump (11). Pref. the pump (11) is formed by a 0.1 mm thick alkali metal ion-conductive solid electrolyte layer of beta-Al203 on a porous ceramic support. ADVANTAGE - The pump is automatically regulated in dependence on electric power decrease and has reduced energy consumption compared with an electromagnetic pump.
