PURPOSE:To prevent titanium oxide from sticking to inclined rolls by piercing or drawing a billet or a hollow piece as water of high pressure exceeding a specified pressure is ejected on the surfaces of inclined rolls for descaling. CONSTITUTION:A solid billet 1 of titanium material is pierced and rolled by a piercer to manufacture a hollow piece 2. A piping 4 to supply high pressure water is provided near a cone type a barrel type roll 3 of the piercer. The piping 4 is provided with plural nozzles 5 and water of high pressure >=50 kg/cm<2> is ejected from the nozzles 5 onto the surface of the roll. Besides, iron wire brush 6 is pushed to the surface of the roll to descale the surface of the roll 3. When the solid billet 1 is pierced and rolled, titanium oxide and portion of titanium material stuck to the surface of the roll 3 is removed by the brush 6 as the high pressure water is ejected. Consequently, a seamless tube of titanium material can be manufacture at a low cost and in a high yield. |
