Coloured thin-film electroluminescent flat displays may be formed with a white light emitter layer (4) and colour filters. They are used as very small or large-format two, multi or fully coloured optical displays with a pixel raster size in the range between the micrometre and a few millimetres, especially for the very small, large and very large-format reproduction of coloured moving images, e.g. for high-definition television (HDTV). With the substrate plate (1) of the flat display as its rear surface and the reflecting electrodes (2) structured directly on the substrate plate (1) and colour filters (7) in front of transparent electrodes (8) on the front surface of the flat display, parallaxes and colour distortions are prevented and a self-adjusting structure of the transparent electrodes (8) covered by the colour filters (7) is facilitated.
