The goal for footabll is formed by uprights (2) and crossbars (4) which support a net. The net (3) is retained by fasteners (8) which fit in longitudinal grooves in the uprights or cross-bars. The upright or cross-bar has a main groove (7) with a smaller groove formed in its floor. This smaller groove (7a) is connected to the main groove by a slot which is narrower than the smaller groove. The fastener has a head (8a) with a width which is narrower than the slot. The head can thus be inserted in the slot with the length of the head aligned longitudinally and then rotated through 90 deg. so that the head is gripped between the walls of the small groove and the fastener body is gripped in the main groove (7).
