PURPOSE:To always keep fresh ink in a head for improving the reliability by a method wherein the ink which is solid at normal temperature is spouted on an ink receptacle member, which is located at a particular position in a recorder and kept at a lower temperature than the melting temperature of the ink, and recovered in a recovery container. CONSTITUTION:An ink collector 19 located at a particular position in a recorder is made of metal and provided with a recovery belt 25 which is able to rotate in the direction shown by an arrow and on which ink drops are discharged, a scraper 21 which contacts the recovery belt, and a recovery container 22. A head 13 is transferred up to a position opposite with the recovery belt 25 and a certain amount of ink is spouted toward the ink recovery ink. As the ink recovery belt is made of metal and kept at normal temperature lower than the melting temperature of the ink, the discharged ink drops are solidified and stuck on the ink recovery belt as soon as the ink drops come in contact with the ink recovery belt, and scrapped out and fall down into the recovery container when they reach the position of the scraper 21. Thereby, the ink which is kept at a high temperature for more than a specified time period is disposed and fresh ink is always stored in the head, so that a high reliability is attained. |
