<p>PURPOSE:To prevent water from entering into an engine and also make compact the engine by forming a roughly-U-shaped air intake passage, and disposing the air intake passage in a plane roughly perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Air is taken in from the air intake opening 22 of an air intake silencer 20 provided above an engine and adjacent the cover of a flywheel magnet and is allowed to pass through an air flow sensor 26 downwardly from an exit 23, and is then introduced into an air intake manifold 40 through a throttle body 30. In this case, the air is separated by a partition wall 50 and is introduced into a number of air intake holes 42 to 47. An air intake passage including the air intake manifold 40 is roughly U-shaped and so functions as a water reservoir of a lower end curved portion to prevent water from leading to each air intake hole 42 to 47. The U-shaped portion of the air intake passage is disposed in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the engine.</p> |
