Credit or cheque card verification system - uses code entered via input keyboard to initiate display of number sequence

The card comprises a flat base carrying a number of identification characters and incorporating an input keyboard (11) and a digital display field (12). The card holder enters a secrete code sequence via the input keyboard, to allow a second series of identification characters to be displayed on the digital display field (12), for checking the card validity. The digital display field (12) provides the name of the card holder or the card number, upon input of the correct code, for checking with data printed on the card. ADVANTAGE - Prevents use of card by other than authorised holder.
