<p>PURPOSE:To improve supercharging effect by the dynamic effect of intake utilizing positive pressure waves by intake inertia by communicating each branch passage connected to each cylinder mutually by a communicating passage, and communicating/cutting-off each branch passage and the communicating passage by each switching valve. CONSTITUTION:The intake manifold 1 of a multiple cylinder engine is formed of branch passages 41-44 connected to a flange part 3 fitted at cylinder head parts so as to be communicated with the combustion chamber of each cylinder, a collecting chamber 5 into which the upstream end parts of the branch passages 41-44 are collected, and an upstream passage 6 extended upstream form the collecting chamber 5. In this case, the overlapped region of the branch passages 41-44 in mutual proximity is provided addedly with a communicating passage 7 for communicating the branch passages 41-44 mutually. The connected parts between the respective branch passages 41-44 and the communicating passage 7 are provided respectively with switching valves 8 for communicating/cutting-off these connected parts in the state of being interlockingly connected by one shaft 9. Each switching valve 8 is controlled to be closed in the high speed region of an engine and opened in the low speed region.</p> |
