A method of setting up the output device (21) of a bottle cleaning machine for a defined type of bottle involves activating the machine drive (7) at a defined rate for bottle cage positioning during a setting up procedure and starting a timer when a defined position is reached. The machine drive is then deactivated after a further timed period corresp. to each type of bottle (14'). If a null position has not been attained when the machine is stationary, a further adjustment is performed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rapid, optimal setting up of bottle cleaning machine output devices.
