A process is described for producing a plastic driving dog for a washing machine drum. The dog has an additional mass consisting of a round steel bar with circumferential grooves close to each end. Prior to injection of plastic around the additional mass, the latter is gripped by two forks which engage in the circumferential grooves. The forks form part of a first tool which is subsequently closed against a second tool part and plastic is injected into the cavity around part of the additional mass. After the plastic has cooled, the forks are withdrawn from the grooves. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process produces a plastic driving dog for a washing machine drum and has a simple, but accurate location for the addtional steel mass, which results in a more even component thickness and reduced rejects.
