A stowage and transport system wherein a for use in ports and ships fit, loaded or unloaded freight carrier (1) which in ports and ships is moved by means of a lifting and moving wagon of known construction, is rendered fit for land transport by e.g. motor vehicle or train. At the first stage of the system the said freight carrier (1) is gripped at the gripping points (8 or 9), which are structural parts thereof, with previously known lifting equipment and the freight carrier is raised clear of the ground level to be supported by the lifting equipment. At the second stage the supporting legs (5, 6) of the freight carrier, used during sea transport, are folded by articulations (7) substantially inwards to reduce the structural height of the freight carrier. At the third stage the freight carrier is loaded by means of the said lifting equipment to a land transport means and secured to its position through its structural parts (11, 8). |
