The illumination has a tub-type light housing (1), a reflector (3) and a protective cap (2). A safety switch (5) has an arm (6) arranged inside the housing (1). The free end of the arm (6) slots into a gap (9) in a threaded sleeve (8) attached to the housing (1) and into which a screw (7) is fitted by means of which the cap (2) is connected to the housing (1). The end of the screw (7) presses against the arm (6) of the switch (5) when the cap (2) is tightly and securely fastened to the housing (1). If the screw (7) is withdrawn the arm (6) moves away, breaking the circuit and making the whole light current-free. USE/ADVANTAGE - Whole light can reliably be made completely current free using simple and inexpensive construction for protection against firedamp and explosive gases.
