Telescopic shock absorber for the wheel suspension of a vehicle consisting of a piston rod in a container tube, a piston rod guide and a support bearing by means of which the piston rod is connected to the vehicle body. The piston rod guide (5) is extended outwardly beyond the container tube (3) and the extended section can be introduced into the support bearing (9,23). USE/ADVANTAGE - Telescopic shock absorber of shorter length which is not subject to bending moments.
