A metal gasket (21) has an opening (23) for passing a fluid; relatively small through-holes (24) for receiving bolts and a raised portion (25) surrounding the whole circumference of the opening (23). The raised portion (25) has a double-bead (25a; 25b) structure comprising an inner peripheral bead portion (25a) constituted by an intermediate flat portion (28) and a first conically slant portion (29) which connects it with an inner peripheral flat portion (27) and an outer peripheral bead (25b) portion constituted by the intermediate flat portion (28) and a second conically slant portion (31) which connects it with an outer peripheral flat portion (30). The second slant portion (31) is slanted at an angle which is smaller than that of the first slant portion (29).
