PURPOSE:To reduce necessary installation area by encapsulating two thyristor valves in one oval tank and constituting a single bridge with three oval tanks while arranging them on a line. CONSTITUTION:An oval tank 58 contains two thyristor valves therein as well as a thyristor protecting arrester so that the arrangement can be shortened. Three oval tanks 58-60 (61-63, 64-66 or 67-69) constitute a single bridge. Thyristor valves for three phases having same polarity on DC side are arranged on a line with DC buses 41 penetrating through the oval tanks 58-60. A DC side bus 43 is connected through a disconnector 48 with a neutral DC buse 53, while a DC side bus 41 is connected through a smoothing reactor 47 with a positive DC bus 51. By such arrangement, necessary installation area can be reduced.
