PURPOSE:To always secure the excellent sealing ability of housings and moreover to control their thermal stress to be low by elastically maintaining a housing assembly formed of the two coupled housings inside a casing with a fixed clearance kept between them. CONSTITUTION:A housing assembly 50 is constituted of a low temperature air housing 3 and a high temperature gas housing 5 which are semicylindrical and opposite to each other. Thermal deformation due to temperature difference of the housings 3, 5 is therefore reduced, and since sealing seat faces 9A, 9B coming into contact with a regenerating core have excellent flatness, excellent sealing ability can be always secured. In addition to that, the assembly 50 is supported inside a housing 1 through an elastic supporting member 28 with a fixed clearance 23 kept between them. Thus since the housing 50 becomes tough against vibration and impact, and can absorb difference in thermal expan sion between the housing 1 and the housing assembly 50, thermal stress generat ed between them can be controlled to be low.
