PURPOSE:To reduce the surface tension of oil and improve the penetration and wetting by incorporating an oligocopolymer of a specified perfluoroalkylated polymerizable monomer with a polymerizable monomer containing a lipophilic group into a lubricating oil. CONSTITUTION:20-80wt.%, preferably 40-60wt.%, polymerizable monomer containing a 4-21C perfluoroalkyl group (e.g. C9F19C2H4OCOCH=CH2) is reacted with 80-20wt.%, preferably 60-40wt.%, polymerizable monomer containing a lipophilic group (e.g. 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate) to give an oligocopolymer having a molecular weight of 1,000 to 10,000. 0.001-1.0wt.% of the oligocopolymer is incorporated into a lubricating oil preferably comprising a non-fluorinated compound. |
