PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of a high frequency component which is not included in an input signal at the time of the discrete linear conversion of a point N in conversion encoding by detecting a pitch from the input signal and using a pitch as a block length. CONSTITUTION:A pitch detection circuit 3 detects the pitch by using an input digital signal in a buffer 2 and outputs the pitch length as the block length. A conversion encoding circuit 4 takes in the input digital signal of the block length N from the buffer 2 and executes encoding by an encoding method which is the same as a conventional one. Thus, the generation of the high frequency component which is not included in the input signal at the time of discrete linear conversion can be suppressed, and the number of bits allocated to the high frequency component is reduced. Consequently, the number of the bits allocated to a conventional input signal component is relatively increased and the input signal can be encoded with high quality. |
