WEDGE-TYPE ROPE SOCKET CONNECTION AND METHOD Disclosed is a socket wedge connection for a wedgetype rope socket for an excavating bucket or the like comprising a relatively elongated socket having a larger end and a smaller end with a tapered passage extending from one end to the other. A rope in the passage is looped upon itself to provide two lengths of rope in the passage with a loop adjacent the larger end. A relatively elongated wedge is between the two lengths, the wedge having a pair of longitudinallyextending wedge-forming element with collapsible inserts therebetween for relieving pressure on the two lengths of rope.
