PURPOSE:To industrially readily and economically obtain the subject compound by reacting O<4>-desulfo-O<5>-acetylcerulein and a complex formed by basic copolymer and sulfur trioxide in anhydrous solvent. CONSTITUTION:O<4>-desulfo-O<5>-acetylcerulein is reacted with a complex formed by a basic copolymer composed of vinylpyridine or aminoalkylsubstituted vinylbenzene and divinylbenzene and sulfur trioxide in anhydrous solvent such as dimethylformamide at a temperature from cooling with ice to room temperature for 1-20 hour and the complex is removed by filtration, then the solvent is distilled off under reduced pressure from the filtered solution to afford O<5>- acetylcerulein as the aimed intermediate. Besides, resultant O<5>-acetylcerulein is subjected to de-acetylation reaction with weak base in aqueous solvent and purified, as necessary, to obtain highly purified cerulein in high yield. |
