In work tables, it is of great importance that the tabletop can be adjusted to different inclinations, because in this way the best working positions can be achieved. In such cases, a hinge 6, 7 can advantageously be fitted, which according to the invention is designed as a tubular piece 8 which runs along the entire length of the table edge 4, 5 and is fastened to one table edge 4. Arranged inside this tube 8 is a pin part 16 which can slide against the internal side of the tube and to which the other table panel 5 is fastened. This can be effected by means of pins 15 which are screwed into the table top 5 and are releasably secured to the pin part 16 by means of a sliding lock-like joining method 18. In this way, the fastening means are concealed, and the surface of the hinge constitutes a smooth transition piece between the panels 5 in such a manner that the workplace has a smooth and uninterrupted surface. <IMAGE>
