PURPOSE:To improve fire preventing performance, electromagnetic wave shielding performance and antistatic performance by molding a composite material consisting of carbonaceous powder or granules and a resin binder and firing the molded body. CONSTITUTION:Carbonaceous powder or granules of 1-2,000mum grain size are obtd. with one or more among natural graphite, coke breeze, charcoal powder, etc. The powder or granules and a thermosetting resin binder such as phenol resin are kneaded with a solvent such as alcohol, extrusion-molded, dried and crushed to obtain a self-hardening composite material contg. the binder stuck to the surface of the powder or granules. This composite material is molded into a desired shape by heating and pressing to produce a fireproof material contg. 60-80wt.% of the carbonaceous powder or granules and having 1.0-1.6 specific gravity. A fireproof layer is produced as required by heat-treating the fireproof material at >=400 deg.C for >=4hr. |
