PURPOSE:To prevent deposition of molten metal on a graphite vessel and to enhance the purity of the refined metal by applying a vitreous carbon coating over the whole surface of the graphite base material and specifying the regular reflectance of the 30 deg incident beam at least on the contact part with the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A metal melting graphite vessel is prepared, the whole surface is sufficiently coated with vitreous carbon until the regular reflectance of the 30deg incident beam is controlled to 0.5-1% on the contact part with the molten metal such as the inner surface of the vessel. When the graphite material thus obtained is used, the deposition of molten metal on the vessel is prevented, Thence the molten metal is easily handled at high purity, the purity of the refined metal is improved, the characteristic of the vapor-deposited film is ameliorated, and the characteristic of the epitaxially grown film is improved. |
