<p>PURPOSE:To apply a uniform coat by a method wherein vanes for producing air streams are provided in a row on the outer peripheral side of a rotary atomization head and shielding tubes are provided in the forward and rearward directions. CONSTITUTION:By changing the direction of the currents of air passing through vanes 15 provided in a row around the outer periphery of a rotary atomization head 11, the amt. of air passing therethrough is regulated. By using the air streams A and A' produced by the vanes 15 as shaving air, a coating pattern is formed into a large-diameter pattern 27 or a small-diameter pattern 27'. When the rotary atomization head 11 is rotated at a high speed, a vacuum region 28 due to air pumping phenomenon is created in its front side. In this condition, when coating is sprayed from the injection edge 12E of an atomization head body 12, spray patterns D and D' are sucked together into the vacuum region 28 and the coating particles fly in a mixed particle state along an electrostatic field so as to be applied uniformly to an object 8 to be coated. The coating pattern can be varied by moving shielding tubes 22 forward or rearward.</p> |
