The invention relates to a moulding method and device enabling a shape to be reproduced. The method consists in covering a bed of particles (3) with an impermeable flexible fabric (10), in fluidising this bed, in pushing the shape (F) to be reproduced right into the fluidised bed, in immobilising the particles of the bed by stopping the fluidisation and in subjecting them to a partial vacuum, in extracting the shape, in pouring a curable mouldable material into the mould cavity thus produced and, after curing the material, in extracting the reproduction obtained. The method of the invention profits from a high degree of flexibility for producing inexpensive reproductions, especially reproduction of modifiable (modular) shapes or the moulding on site of parts of the body (fingers for taking a three-dimensional fingerprint, or limbs for the production of prostheses). <IMAGE>
