The sealing device for the location at which a rotating shaft passes through a wall includes, on the shaft (2), an elongate cylindrical ring (3) capable of sliding, equipped with means for immobilization and sealing with respect to the said shaft, in the form of O-rings (5). It also includes, secured to the wall (1), a housing (7) equipped with means for providing sealing (12) with respect to the said ring (3), which sealing is obtained over a circular surface, directly on the cylindrical ring. These means are preferably in the form of lip seals (12) with a stainless steel spring (13). The housing (7) also includes means (10) for guidance over the said ring (3), in order to centre the said sealing means (12). <IMAGE>
