The invention is distinguished by the fact that it is characterised by a mechanism for retracting the needle inside a sealed receiving compartment. During the aspiration and delivery of a liquid, the latter passes through the needle (17), the orifice (14), swirls in the dissolution chamber (13) and penetrates into the body of the syringe (6) through the channel (10). While circulating, the liquid soaks a soluble pellet (11) blocking a bead (12) integral with the needle (17). After a certain time, the pellet (11) dissolves, releasing the bead (12) and the needle (17) which, activated by the spring (9) exerting its force on the receptacle (8), retract inside the receiving compartment (7), thereby rendering the syringe inoperative and harmless. The device according to the invention is intended in particular for syringes for use by the general public. <IMAGE>
