PURPOSE:To improve the fracture toughness value of the above material by constituting the material of a preceramic polymer which can be converted to Sialon by the reaction with mullite and/or alumina and fibers. CONSTITUTION:This composite material consists of the essential components of the mullite and/or alumina, silicon and nitrogen, the preceramic polymer which can be thermally converted to the Sialon by the reaction with the mullite and/or alumina, and the fibers 12. Perhydropolysilazane, which is inorg. polysilazane and the main repeating unit of which is expressed bi (SiH2NH)n and can be thermally converted to the Sialon by the reaction with the mullite and/or alumina or polysilazane, which is org. polysilazane, and the main repeating unit of which is formula I (where R is <=7C alkyl group, alkenyl group, etc.) and which can be thermally converted to the Sialon by the reaction with the mullite and/or alumina is used as the preceramic polymer. |
