PURPOSE:To improve operability in a manual mode and to prevent miscopying by providing a means displaying operational guide information for an operator on a sensor supporting arm. CONSTITUTION:The sensor supporting arm 40 is provided below an original platen glass 16 so as to be left, the size of an original is discriminated from the result detected by sensors 46-49 which is arranged on the sensor supporting arm 40. In this case, the operational guide information for an operator is displayed on the sensor supporting arm 40. Therefore, when the sensor supporting arm 40 is advanced below the original platen glass 16, an operator can recognize the operational guide information for an operator written in the sensor supporting arm 40 through sighting. Thus, a copying action is speedily and surely carried out after the information is recognized, the operability of an image reader is improved, and miscopying is prevented. |
