The sectional gate has the gate sections mounted on hollow hinge pins (1). Torsion springs (2,3) are fitted inside the hinge pin (1) and hold the gate in the closed position. In the event of the breakage of a torsion spring the gate can be held closed by a spring loaded pin (9) which engages a recess (14) in the locking disc (12). The pin (9) is mounted in a retaining plate (6) and is held in the disengaged position by a release mechanism (16) with an 'L'shaped arm (17). In the event of the spring (2,3) breaking the release mechanism (16) is actuated so that the arm (17) is withdrawn from under the head (10) of the pin (9) so that it engages the recess (14).
