Resilient bellows (1) with terminal collars (2,2') opt. of different dia., is fitted round a mechanical joint esp. a drive joint for a shaft (6). At end(s) the collars are sealingly engaged by a spring-clip (5) with a separate or integral tightening/loosening lock (4), engaged e.g. by a screw-driver. The clip fits into a peripheral groove (8) formed in the bellows. To prevent distortion of the bellows as the clip is tightened, sliding engagement between the two, even under pressure, is maintained by pref. coating, e.g. with PTFE, wax, silicone oil, molybilimum disulphite etc. USE - Avoids distortion which could produce harmful imbalance in the joints.
