Regulating speeds in extruder layout - by festooning extrusion between 2 conveyors and regulating one conveyor speed by difference between actual and target heights of sag
摘要
The conveyor speed in one part of equipment extruding elastomers and/or polymers is regulated in accordance with the speed of another part; the extrusion is festooned between the two parts concerned and the amt. of sag is used to control the input or output speed, the sag being measured by a sensor. The actual sag produces a signal from a sensor positioned above the lowest point of the festoon; another signal is similarly produced from a sensor positioned elsewhere; the difference between the two signals is used to regulate the drive, and the second sensor is set at a height above the material so that both signals are equal when the festoon has the desired height. ADVANTAGE - The method uses simple means for control. It does not produce adverse effects on the extrusion, nor undesirable variations in the surface finish of the extrusion (or any other physical property).
