Bale breaker - has toothed rollers with separate lifters to clear fibres up to limit wall

The bale breaker, to extract fibres from hard compressed bales of cotton or man-made fibres, etc. has toothed rollers which rotate in the same direction and can be raised separately from the upper surface of the bale. Pref. each toothed roller has its own lifter to disengage it from the upper surface of the bale, and the roller away from the wall is lifted clear. The roller lifting mechanism is pref. a pneumatic cylinder or a threaded spindle. The toothed rollers are powered together by a drive. The appts. can rotate round the centre axis of a fibre extraction roller, so that one toothed roller is brought away from the upper surface of the bale. The drive, such as a belt or chain, is fitted with a spring-loaded tensioner. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives an even extn. from the upper fibre layer in a bale which is limited by a wall.
