摘要 |
Electrochemical decompsn. of halogenated organic cpds. in industrial waste water is carried out in an electrochemical cell in which the electrodes are continuously or at intervals in situ activated by precipitating metals chosen from Au, Ag, Cu, Ni, Cu, Fe, Pd, Pt, Zn, Sn, Hg, V, Cr, Mn, Rh, Cd, In or Ce to provide metal nuclei which raise the surface activity. USE/ADVANTAGE - Breaking down esp. trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, methylene chloride as well as other solvent, extrn. and thinning solns. The continuous high surface activity ensure high break-up rate of the solvent. Pref. the metal or alloy may be precipitated from a salt soln. complex salt soln. dispersed soln. a aprotic soln. Alternatively metal can be removed from the electrode surface to leave fresh exposed metal to act as nuclei sites. The metal of the electrode is chosen form Au, Ag, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Pd or Pt with non-metallic elements such as P or B included.
