PURPOSE:To lighten the loads on a serviceman, etc. by reading identification information corresponding to the sensitivity characteristic of an image carrier which holds a developer image formed by means of an image forming operation, and altering setting conditions for the image forming operation according to the result of the reading. CONSTITUTION:When an instruction for an adjustment mode is given by the use of a consol panel, a CPU 500 drives a photosensitive drum 10 so that it rotates at a constant speed. When its rotation becomes stable, an output corresponding to the reading of the identification information carried out by an optical sensor 101 is fetched. In the CPU 500 a control signal based on the result of the recognition is produced, and this is outputted to a high voltage transformer 501. Consequently high voltage discharge transformer output changes, and an electrifier 11 outputs electrification which corresponds to the sensitivity characteristic of the photosensitive drum 10 and which is suitable for its rank. Therefore, change in surface potential of the photosensitive drum 10, which is caused by change in its sensitivity characteristic, can be reduced. Since setting conditions for the image forming operation can be automatically adjusted, loads on a serviceman and an assembler are lightened. |
