PURPOSE:In a converter where a plurality of monolith catalysts are arranged in series with interval in a casing, to reduce the number of parts and to facilitate the manufacture by forming the spacer and the secondary air supply path integrally. CONSTITUTION:A casing 1 comprising shells 2 splitted into two in the axial direction and coupled through a flange 2a is containing a catalyst containing section 1a at the central section. In said containing section 1a, a reduction monolith catalyst 9 is arranged in series on the upstream side front stage while an oxidation monolith catalyst 10 is on the down stream side front stage and they are held through a spacer 11. Here the spacer 11 is constructed with two symmetrical pan-shaped press mold members 12, 13 then they are arranged front and rear and the bottoms are matched back to back to be integrated. When forming the grooves 12b, 13b having the semi-circular cross-section on each bottom the secondary air supply path 18 is integrally formed. |
