Actuating device for a rotary bar lock for doors of goods compartments in lorries, container vehicles and similar transport containers, the lock having a lever (2) which is pivotally mounted to a baseplate (1) and which is held in a closed position by spring loading and which serves to rotate the lock bars (3), a releasable locking element (6) being displaceably mounted on the pivot lever and continuously urged to a locked position by spring loading, in which position the element (6) engages a corresponding element (14) on the baseplate (1), characterized in that both the pivot lever (2) and the locking element (6) are loaded by a single tension spring (2) acting on the baseplate (1) and on the locking element (6) and positioned between the pivot mounting of the lever (2) and the locking element (6).
