PURPOSE:To improve notifying performance, to prevent the number of subscribers from being decreased and to effectively utilize radio waves by providing a call notification control circuit, which controls various call notification modes, and an illuminance detection circuit, etc. CONSTITUTION:In a call standby state, when a call is generated from a base station to self- telephone set and a call notifying instruction is outputted from a collating circuit 4, a call notification control circuit 60 decides a call notification mode. As a result, when a silence notification mode is decided, an illuminance detection value is inputted from an illuminance detection circuit 15 and it is decided whether this illuminance detection value is less than a threshold value set in advance or not. When it is decided that the value is less than the threshold value, the circuit 60 judges that it is dark around a selective call receiver, and the call notification mode is changed from the silence notification mode to a ringing notification mode. Then, a ringing signal is outputted to a driving circuit 7 and a ringing tone is generated from a loudspeaker 8. Accordingly, even when the selective call receiver is housed in bag, etc., the generation of a call can be notified to an owner without fail and the notifying performance is improved. Then, the number of the subscribers is increased and the radio waves can be effectively utilized.
