PURPOSE:To improve the welding workability of a backing strip by laser welding the defective part on the outside surface of a piping or the like while prohibiting the leakage of liquid by a gaseous pressure from the outside surface, and then mounting the backing strip thereon by fillet welding. CONSTITUTION:The backing strip to prevent the leakage of the liquid 6 in the pipe is fillet welded to the outside surface of the defective part 2 generated in the piping or the like (repair pipe) 1 by which the defective part is repaired. A pressure chamber 8 is, thereupon, mounted via a rubber seal 9 to the outside surface part of the defective part 2 of the piping 1. The defective part 2 is laser welded by a laser beam 16 while the leakage of the liquid is prevented by feeding a pressurized gas 11 from a gas inlet 10. The backing strip is thereafter mounted thereon by fillet welding. Thus, the man-hours for repair are decrease. |
